My Passion for Reading and its Contribution to My Personal Growth
My energy for broad and penetrative perusing has unequivocally affirmed reality of an announcement once made by the eighteenth century French Philosopher, Dennis Digerot, ââ¬Å"Only interests, extraordinary interests can raise the spirit to incredible things.â⬠My spirit, not only my mind, has for sure been raised to greatness!I started developing a perusing society at four years old, in my Nursery-school days since I valued the lessons of my folks and educators with respect to the fortunes covered up in the understanding society. In this manner I read whatever I could find that found my fancy. But perusing whatever got my extravagant before long offered route to a prejudicial understanding propensity, in light of the fact that against the ethical feeling of conventionality and progressiveness which I owe to my childhood, I gauged and filtered each thought I came upon.My determination of books before long limited to national papers, scholarly writing, verse and emotional writing just as works of political and scholastic critics.Customarily, I read these choices not as necessary chore however as an issue of individual enthusiasm for the thoughts and data they advertised. For example, I didn't peruse scholastic books only to finish my tests however attempted to uncover the enlightening thoughts they contained, the complexity to which they drew consideration, and the refinement as a main priority and in character they recommended.Today, I have a commended feeling of scholarly separation; I know my privileges from my wrongs; I have an observing feeling of magnificence and gratefulness in issues of ethics, style, expressions and writing; I have a brain sufficiently free to have a uninfluenced state in about any issue. I feel my mind and my spirit unfurl to the scholarly and profound guarantee of their uniqueness!

Macbeth Is the Most Evil Character in British Literature free essay sample
Macbeth states, False face must conceal what the bogus heart doth know (1. 7. 83). This means the bogus face, or an untruth, must conceal what a sullied heart will do. At that moment, Macbeth has persuaded himself that in the event that he can pull off submitting unfairness, he can legitimize doing it. This occasion is perfectly clear proof of Macbeth turning out to be increasingly shrewd. Macbeth likewise appears to not think about the lives of others supposedly on. He slaughters more individuals and requires the passing of more individuals. For instance, in Act 3, Macbeth has Banquo and his children murdered nearly in the snap of a finger. Anybody that can wantonly have a few people slaughtered by means of crime is clearly shrewd on the most fundamental level. This is the reason Macbeth is the most underhanded character in British writing, and is completely insidious on the most fundamental level. Something else that Macbeth does that places him making a course for an insidious future is to maintain a strategic distance from individuals to an ever increasing extent. We will compose a custom article test on Macbeth Is the Most Evil Character in British Literature or on the other hand any comparative subject explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page From the tragedys prologue to its peak, Macbeth depends less and less on his friends and mates. The content backings this hypothesis in the start of the play. Macbeth is depicted as subject to his better half, and regarding the writing, Lady Macbeth was perusing a letter from her significant other that said everything that transpired (1. 5. 1). In any case, as the finish of the play is reached, Macbeth no longer addresses his better half so much. This is appeared in Act 5, Scene 3 when the play delineates Macbeth attempting to comfort himself from dread by reviewing his memory of the witches predictions. In the start of the play, Macbeth would consistently converse with his significant other in the event that he required good help. Be that as it may, that is not true anymore. In advanced 2013, a great deal of the hoodlums, for example, James Holmes from the Aurora shootings, Adam Lanza of the Sandy Hook shootings, and even as of late the community of the two Chechnyans, didn't converse with anybody or were separated. Mental specialists have analyzed the lives of these individuals in profundities more noteworthy than the sea, and they have inferred that seclusion prompts malice and bad behaviors. Macbeth was completely disconnected close to the finish of the story, so that is evidence that he has gotten increasingly malicious in character. A few pundits of Shakespeares Macbeth would not concur with the hypothesis that Macbeth is the most underhanded character in British writing. Be that as it may, there is a lot of proof that demonstrates this isn't the situation. Some could guarantee that Macbeth was crazy and didn't intend to play out the activities that he did. In any case, he isn't crazy, and this is demonstrated on the grounds that the entirety of his activities are very in contact with the world and can marginally be supported. In the event that Macbeth were in fact crazy, the play would show parcels progressively boisterous activities on his part and not a ton of figured going into all that he does, which he did before the entirety of his activities. Others may state that there were different characters in British writing that are more underhanded than Macbeth, however through the accompanying reasons this is just false. He was especially enticed by the predictions that the witches told and submits an ever increasing number of underhandedness acts, for example, various homicides of various significant characters. Likewise, the character is amazingly hungry for power and will persevere relentlessly to get it, which is a very underhanded characteristic. Through these reasons, unmistakably Macbeth is in actuality the most underhanded character in British writing, and counter contentions are essentially not honest. Consequently, Macbeth has changed from a youthful lord into an incredible, malicious ruler. He no longer has anything impeding him of turning out to be increasingly insidious, and not being as quite a bit of a man of his word. It is tragic to state that heaps of individuals in this world are this way, however fortunate for us, we have the dramatization of Macbeth to give us what may befall them at long last.

Integration Bee (guest post by Mike W. 19)
Integration Bee (guest post by Mike W. â19) This blog post is by Mike W. â19, epic speed integrator and Random Hall freshman physicist. If you enjoy integrating you can try out some problems at the end of this post, and if you enjoy Mikeâs writing you should read his most recent fiction project. Calculus has always been my favorite type of math. Maybe itâs the physicist in me. So when I heard that MIT had an annual Integration Bee, I got excited. I checked my calendar. The Bee was between the first and second semester. I might have trouble finding time, given my busy schedule of watching superhero cartoons, listening to songs about Alexander Hamilton on YouTube, and flipping through the physics textbooks I would use next semester (my personal record is forty pages flipped in a minute). I prepared. I found some integrals online. I did them. I reviewed all the techniques. I discovered I never really learned partial fractions. Turns out I wasnât missing much, partial fractions is a total drag. Anyways, I waltzed in for the written portion, confident as you please. I tend to solve problems quickly, so the extreme time-pressure probably helped me. I made the cut, for the live round. Turns out my roommate did too. I did some more integrals leading up to the contest. My Hamilton-listening time took a serious hit. Partial fractions continued to be lame. U-subs all the way. I showed up at the event. I recognized a few of the people there. Mostly my fellow physics majors. Because math people canât do integrals. At this point, I ask myself a very fundamental question: what is an integration bee? Yeah, I know. Itâs a little embarrassing that I had gotten that far, done all the preparation, but I didnât know the rules. But it turned out none of the other competitors were quite sure either. But the people running the event seemed to know (or else they were very good at bluffing). They had us go up in groups of five. We had to do integrals, with a time limit. If you got one wrong, you got a strike. Four strikes and youâre out. Things would continue until there were eight people left. Then, there would be a single elimination round. I scraped by with three strikes. So did my roommate. That meant we were seeded against the second and third best performers in the first round, respectively. We both managed to pull off victories. Which meant we were up against each other for a shot at the finals. My roommate steamrolled me. He got every problem right, I got every problem wrong. Then, he went on to win the contest. Iâm not jealous. Not at all. I think this is sort of emblematic of MIT. No matter how hard you practice for something, no matter how much you cut into your Hamilton time, there is always a chance your roommate will beat you. Because this is MIT, so the odds are pretty good that your roommate is smart. And shares your taste in integrals. (Lydia againâ") If youâve got some integration in your toolbox, you can try the tournament out for yourself. Here are the qualifying rounds from 2014 and 2013, respectively, embedded from the 2014 web site. Even better: last yearâs Integration Bee was videotaped, so you can watch and follow along. If you want even more integration, you can also read about the Integration Bee in Yanâs blog post from today, 2009, and this Quora post, which includes insights from other Grand Integrators and almost Grand Integrators. PS: The beautiful tagline is by Cory, not by me. PPS: If youre not into this, dont worryâ"you dont have to be very good at or very excited about integrals to fit in, do well, or have fun at MIT. We have all sorts of hobbies. In fact, you can get through MIT solving integrals very slowly and in private.

The Correlation Between Personal Responsibility and College Success Free Essays
The correlation between personal responsibility and college success Roland Miner GEN/200 November 30, 2012 Sara Martin The correlation between personal responsibility and college success Even though some may say there is no direct correlation between personal responsibility and college success, the relationship with how responsible you are and how that affects your college success becomes evident with higher Grade Point Averages and overall pride in your work. With these tools, high GPA, intrinsic motivation, and self-efficacy, you receive during your college years there is evidence of achieving greater success after graduation. Another vital tool that will be explored, that is not being taught but comes naturally to some students, is emotional intelligence or common sense. We will write a custom essay sample on The Correlation Between Personal Responsibility and College Success or any similar topic only for you Order Now The relationship between how responsible you are and your college success is apparent in many ways. A good strategy is to follow the syllabus and set up a game plan or schedule. Following an agenda will help you spread out your work load over the week, it will show that you are on the right track and is a great indicator of how responsible you are. One of the worst traits that many people possess is procrastination. According to ââ¬Å"California Polytechnic State University, Cal Poly Academic Skill Centerâ⬠(n. d. ) ââ¬Å"The procrastinator is often remarkably optimistic about his ability to complete a task on a tight deadline; this is usually accompanied by expressions of reassurance that everything is under control. (Therefore there is no need to start. )â⬠ââ¬Å"At some point, he crosses over an imaginary starting time and suddenly realizes, ââ¬Å"Oh no! ââ¬â I am not in control! There isnââ¬â¢t enough time! (Characteristics) The University states, later in their paper, the benefits of overcoming procrastination ââ¬Å"Peace of mind, a feeling of strength and purpose, and healthy feeling of being in charge of your life. While procrastination makes you feel week, useless, and helpless, taking charge of your life will make you feel strong, competent, and capable. You will experience increased personal free dom! â⬠(Benefits of overcoming procrastination) A responsible person will not wait until the day the paper is due to write it. The final day should be set up for proof eading and any last minute tweaks. As any responsible person will tell you, following a schedule and turning your work in on time and producing higher grades will bring you an overabundance of self-pride other wise know as intrinsic motivation, and self-efficacy. Spitzer found that (2000) ââ¬Å"Academic self-efficacy is oneââ¬â¢s confidence to succeed at the academic tasks rather than oneââ¬â¢s actual ability. Students with high self-efficacy show greater cognitive effort, intrinsic motivation, persistence, and self regulation in their academic performance. The pride you feel knowing that you did the best job you could in the time you were allotted. This very same drive to internal satisfaction that will continue not just throughout your college years but will stay with you in all that you do. Intrinsic m otivation and self-efficacy are not the only rewards you will gain. By taking your time and producing outstanding work you will see a substantial increase in your Grade Point Average which is also your defining mark of greatness in college and beyond. ââ¬Å"All college students share at least two goals during their college career. First, they must perform academically, usually measured by GPA (grade point average). Second, they must progress in career development. â⬠(Spitzer, 2000) Your GPA will stay with you throughout your college career and is important to keep track of and strive for higher marks. It is after you graduate that your higher achievements will continue to count. Many employers will take you GPA into consideration when looking for new employees. The job you are applying for may come down to you and one other person and something like a GPA could loose you that career. It will help distinguish you from others applying for positions that you desire. Your high Grade Point Average will set you apart from mediocrity. A final important asset to consider is emotional intelligence. According to a study conducted by Sparkman, Maulding, and Roberts (2012) ââ¬Å"Emotional Intelligence is the set of skills that a Pearson needs to function effectively in the world and what might be referred to as ââ¬Å"common senseâ⬠(p. 644). Their study with EI, although very new and controversial, points to ow well an individual will ââ¬Å"handle frustration, control emotions, and get along with other peopleâ⬠(p. 644). There is a wildly popular television show that is currently broadcasting which shows a group of twenty to thirty something year old nerds trying to function in the typical day to day environment. They are depicted in what we would call normal day to day functions and interactions and shown how even though they are the Einsteinââ¬â¢s of our ti me they fail miserable on a social level. One of the nerds in particular lacks the emotional intelligence to even function with his own fellow intellectuals. Studying this comedic group flounder their way through life is a perfect, all be it extreme, example of Sparkman, Maulding, and Roberts points on how important common sense is a must to function in todayââ¬â¢s society. They even go so far as to suggest that ââ¬Å"Universities wishing to increase student retention and graduation should use these scores to develop curriculum and extracurricular activities to encourage student growth in emotional intelligence which will specifically help students and institutions alike reach their educational goalsâ⬠(p. 50). To be a successful student there are many tools for you to use, intrinsic motivation, self-efficacy, GPA, and even emotional intelligence, just to name a few. Each student will have to find what tool it will take to enhance their achievements. There are those they may disagree, they may say that being responsible has no correlation to a successful college education. They may even say that your Grade Point Average has no im pact on landing a stable career. Zupek (2008) ââ¬Å"While grades and GPA play a small role in the job-search process, the good news is that chances are, your GPA is not going to make or break you when it comes to getting a jobâ⬠(what matters the most? ). With this economy and in these times why run that risk? Why would you not want to give your all? With a higher Grade Point Averages and a greater sense of self-pride there is no end to what you can accomplish. References California Polytechnic State University, Cal Poly Academic Skills Center. Summary and Critique of ââ¬ÅDisobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problemââ¬Â Example For Students
Summary and Critique of ââ¬Å"Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problemâ⬠Summary and Critique of ââ¬Å"Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problemâ⬠by Erich Fromm In ââ¬Å"Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problemâ⬠by Erich Fromm, Fromm states that human history was started by an act of disobedience, and that it will be ended by an act of obedience. He then says that the majority of human authorities and governments throughout history have demonized disobedience while sanctifying obedience, as their power comes from the obedience of the masses and that only obedience bred as a virtue can be sustained by such organizations. He states that the obedience of the masses and the power gained from it are what allow the governing few to enjoy the limited quantities of luxuries and other resources available only to those with power and the means to use it. He also states that the human conscience is divided into 2 types: the humanistic conscience, which instinctively knows which actions and things are human and which are inhuman, and the authoritarian conscience, which encourages us to follow the rules and behaviors taught to us by society and those in power. We will write a custom essay on Summary and Critique of ââ¬Å"Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problemâ⬠specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now When Fromm states that human history was started by disobedience, he argues that this is shown by the Bibleââ¬â¢s traditional Adam and Eve story, wherein their disobedience gets them forced out of the Garden paradise and into the cruel reality of the world as we know it. In this, he fails to account for the bias of the Church itself in the story; the story of Adam and Eve is supposed to engender obedience towards ââ¬ËGodââ¬â¢, and more importantly, at least in the eyes of the Bibleââ¬â¢s authors, the Church. As such, disobedience will of course be punished; however human history has shown that obedience has caused far more damage to paradises and societies themselves than disobedience, leading me to think that the start of history was probably an act of obedience leading to the proverbial Gardenââ¬â¢s destruction and mankindââ¬â¢s eviction from the ruins, rather than any act of disobedience. Then, Fromm posits that the human conscience is separated into 2: the human and the authoritarian conscience, with the former containing behaviors and rules that are considered ââ¬Ëhumanââ¬â¢ while the latter contains the rules and behaviors taught to us by the authorities that govern our society. This is a flawed view simply because such a division would require that both sets of rules and behaviors be fairly exclusive, meaning that what is taught to us by society and its authorities would be considered mostly ââ¬Ënon-humanââ¬â¢ on a ase level by a preexisting set of behaviors, yet humans are by nature social creatures that have been shown to learn most of our basic behaviors and rules from society itself, being born without any real set of predetermined behaviors such as those found in many other animals. As such, there can be no division of the conscience between the behaviors learned from society and a set of instinctive behaviors considered ââ¬Ëhumanââ¬â¢ becau se such a set does not exist. Then, Fromm says that authorities must instill obedience among the masses by appearing ââ¬Ëall-knowingââ¬â¢ or omnipotent and infallible in some way, or lose their power in the long term. However, modern governments would not work if this were true, especially the U. S. Federal Government; we question Congress and the President constantly, yet they still maintain their overall power in our society, regardless of how effective they are in actually using that power. For example, look at the recent government shutdown: the members of Congress managed to get poll averages to 80% against their actions by the time they got their act together and restarted the government, and yet they still maintain their power even after that little fiasco. .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163 , .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163 .postImageUrl , .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163 , .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163:hover , .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163:visited , .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163:active { border:0!important; } .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163:active , .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163 .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uf2d166947a6d9ab3bbb4a9033ff09163:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Tarzan EssayIf an appearance of infallibility was necessary to maintain obedience and thus power, then we wouldnââ¬â¢t have the current system at all in fact; Congress would have lost their collective power after Vietnam, when the general population lost most of their faith in the Federal government, as they also stopped obeying Congress in many ways after that due to their mistrust. Because of this, I believe that infallibility and the appearance of omniscience is not necessary for maintaining obedience, and thereby maintaining power, over the long-term. The exception to this is that if the masses the authorities govern are uneducated, and thus unable to make informed decisions due to a lack of education and worldly awareness, then omniscience and infallibility, or at least the illusions of such, must be maintained to continue to hold power over the long term.
